I loved the character progression. Some things are predictable, but there are twists that stunned me. The message isnt new but brilliantly told.

The universe expanded a lot in Starsight, what's not to like? If you want a logical sci-fi book, then this series is not for you. But if you like Star Wars, Saga and Ant-Man 3 then go for it!

Brandon Sanders stellt seine Vielseitigkeit hier wiederholt unter Beweis. Er ist ein großartige Schriftsteller. Sehr empfehlungswert.

Starsight is a great, but largely disconnected sequel. Therefore it didnt build as much on the strengths of the first as I would've liked.

The adventure is still filled with funny moments and interesting characters. It's just that we almost start with a blank slate.

I feel like Sanderson showed too much of his hand at the end of Skyward and having read Starsight I have no idea where the next one will lead us. I still look forward to it, however.

Loved skyward so much but the greatest strength of the first book is the greatest weakness of Starsight: pacing. There is just not enough happening, neither plot wise nor in terms of character dev or even worldbuilding. You end up with more questions than before because almost none are being answered in this book.

I have found myself shouting "I got it, your said it four times already" and "who cares???!!!" all throughout the middle part because what was happening was painfully slow, redundant and obvious. There are still some very nice small twists and turns but no comparison to the Rollercoaster book 1 is.
The ending is good but by no means close to book 1 or other Sanderson books.
I have to say this might be the weakest book since Warbreaker. Which means it is still of a high quality.

By far not as good as Skyward

Skyward war die dritte Reihe von Brandon Sanderson, die ich gehört habe. Bisher habe ich jedes seiner Bücher geliebt. Es gibt jedes Mal knackige, lustige Dialoge, unglaubliche Plot-Twists und plastische Charaktere. Besonders auch seine Frauenfiguren haben es mir angetan. Ich folge ihnen gerne, liebe, dass sie frei von unangenehmen Klischees und auf Action aus sind. Ein unbedingter Lieblingsautor!
Und die Stimme von Suzy Jackson passt perfekt zu Spensa. Man nimmt die Sprecherin beinahe nicht war - es ist, als würde man still lesen, im Kopf. Ich finde, dass ist das größte Kompliment, dass man einem Sprecher machen kann, dass sie mit der Geschichte verschmilzt.

Compared to the first book, the MC has become a more likeable character -not the "brat" from especially the first part of the first book.

That said, this second book is much weaker as to the science and logical aspects of the plot - and that with the first book already not having been good in that aspect, to begin with! Lots of issues when looking at the details.

However, Brandon Sanderson is an experienced and well-versed writer - and it shows.
If you can accept that this book is NOT a novel rooted deeply in the typical logic and science of "standard" science fiction novels, then you will very likely enjoy this book. And it is a notable step up from the first book with a more interesting plot.

No "science fiction" - more like "fantasy fiction"
