Es zieht sich. Wenig Progress. Kaum Aktion. Zuviel zwischenmenschliches und gedankliches Gebrabbel. Zu theoretisch. Schade.

While the story itself would be interesting, the story unfortunately gets bogged down by an overly complicated magic system. Very often the story grinds to a halt to explain another layer. The writer has potential, but he needs a few more books under his belt before he can explain the magic system he is really proud of in a succinct and clear way.

An even bigger problem lies with the audiobook specifically. The narrator is TERRIBLE. She clearly reads the text for the first time without preparation, which leads to frequent stops and weird pauses in the middle of sentences. I tried my best to get used to her, but had to give up halfway through the book. DNF
