An excellent story, I expected it to be darker.
R.C Bray and Julia Whelan do an excellent job bringing this story to life, I thoroughly enjoyed the story from beginning to end, I've been putting off getting this book for a while now thinking that it may be a bit to dark for my liking, already looking for the sequel.

Riveting story
Right from the outset, this story was captivating. A catastrophic event of a mind blowing scale. Wonderfully delivered by Julia Wehlan and R.C. Bray. Very much looking forward to part two.

Why did they have to survive
I like the idea of this book, but I constantly hope that the protagonists die fast for the salvation of the audience (me). They are acting so stupid, that I have sore muscles from constantly shaking the head. It's completely unrealistic, how can such dumb persons survive four books? I tried nevertheless the second book, it's not going to be better and the macho behavior of Vaughn is even getting worse.
But the speakers are doing a great job.

Gripping action, clumsily written
I liked the captivating post-apocalyptic story, Gravity meets I am Legend of sorts.
Even as a non-native English speaker, the writing felt shallow, clumsy, formulaic, repetitive, filled with 'huge giants, endless horizons, round spheres, audible clicks, shiny metal' pleonasms and randomly chosen 'terrible beauty' and 'get busy dying' cultural references.
Also, the description of catastrophic events was so unnecessary detailed that I lost track of what was going on.

"Der Marsianer" trifft "I Am Legend"
An den „Marsianer“ reicht „Solitude“ nicht heran, bietet aber richtig gute hard Sci-Fi-Unterhaltung, gepaart mit etwas Endzeitstimmung und Charakteren, die man gerne anfeuert. Die Sprecher – vor allem R.C. Bray – verleihen der Sache Pepp. Der Schluss macht eindeutig Lust auf eine Fortsetzung. Schöner Serienauftakt für alle, die Science Fiction auch mal eine Chance geben wollen.

Wasted potential
Weak "science", an endless succession of utterly unrealistic feats achieved by the (unrelatable) main characters and *really*clumsy writing. What I found particularly annoying was the constant switching between referring to the characters by name and then as anonymous persons immediately afterwards. E.g.: "Angela and Vaughan looked up. The man and the woman saw a huge oil tanker floating by". This pattern repeats throughout the whole book and made me cringe every time. RC Bray is a great narrator, but he should have rejected this script...and Julia Whelan is too melodramatic for my taste. So overall, I will avoid this author going forward.
