And so on to his dizzying ascent via scriptwriting for Peter Sellers, David Frost, Marty Feldman and others to the heights of Monty Python. Includes archive clips of many of his most famous moments.

Punctuated from time to time with John Cleese’s thoughts on topics as diverse as the nature of comedy, the relative merits of cricket and waterskiing, and the importance of knowing the dates of all the kings and queens of England, this is a masterly performance by a former schoolmaster.

the fact that John himself read the book brought it to life. it was funny, insightful and for me a reminder that one should follow their "passion" (John, one for your publishers;-)) even when your educational background might take you on a different journey.

The only Problem I have with this Autobiography is, that it´s too short. It Ends, when the Pythons begin. Looks like the life of John Cleese ended then and was only shortly resurrected in the o2 Arena a couple of years ago. But the guy probably knows that we will just wait for the Part II and buy this again, in the end, he Needs Money for his Mistresses probably. For everybody who wants to have a good time listening to a great Autobiography, this is for you. I admit that I speak here as a fanboy, but for everybody else: if you ever wondered, why John Cleese has this Special look in his eyes, this desperate, sad, empty look - you will find an answer in this book, too.
