Let's get one thing straight - Ivy Wilde is not a heroine. In fact she's probably the last witch in the world you'd call if you needed a magical helping hand, regardless of her actual abilities. If it were down to Ivy, she'd spend all day every day on her sofa, where she could watch TV, munch junk food, and talk to her feline familiar to her heart's content.

However, when a bureaucratic disaster ends up with Ivy as the victim of a case of mistaken identity, she's yanked very unwillingly into Arcane Branch, the investigative department of the Hallowed Order of Magical Enlightenment. Her problems are quadrupled when a valuable object is stolen right from under the Order's noses.

It doesn't exactly help that she's been magically bound to Adeptus Exemptus Raphael Winter. He might have piercing sapphire eyes and a body a cover model would be proud of, but as far as Ivy's concerned, he's a walking advertisement for the joyless perils of too much witch work.

And if he makes her go to the gym again, she's definitely going to turn him into a frog.

Dieses Buch ist meine lieblings Buchserie von Helle Harper.
Es ist echt Super lustig. Ivy ist Ein Echt guter Charakter. Und die sprechende Katze der Hammer ich lag vor Lachen fast unter dem Tisch.
Leider nur 3 Bücher und eine Kurzgescbichte die Serie. Ich hoffe sehr es kommt doch noch mehr. Echt sehr Unterhaltsam und ebenfalls gut gesprochen.

This audiobook was so much fun to hear! The characters (cats included) are awesome and the story was really good. The ending made me laugh so hard... xD The narrator was a perfect fit too, I had no trouble understanding her (I'm german). :)

Die Story ist kurzweilig, ließ mich manchmal Grinsen und manchmal Auflachen - wenn man sich darauf einlässt ist es ein schönes Hörbuch 😉. Die einzige "Herausforderung" ist anfänglich tatsächlich die Sprecherin - sie hat Ivy zum Anfang geradezu obszön "lazy" gesprochen - habe versucht noch etwas mit der Anpassung der Sprechgeschwindkeit "rauszuholen" 🫤 Keine Chance. Habe es dann hingenommen und letztendlich ein schönes Hörerlebnis gehabt 😁 (Bin jetzt beim dritten Buch und habe mich an die Sprecherin gewöhnt)

The main character is adorably lazy! The book title is perfect! It is not really funny but totally amusing!

Though the author is UK the narration is not, thankfully. The narration is great!

Love the cat, love the heroine! Good, creative story that made me chuckle quite often.
Helen Haper wrote some decent stories and this series (consisting of 3 books) is no exception!

Funny & easy listening

I’ve enjoyed the cute little story, but the reader is driving me insane. She’s clearly American reading a British POV story and trying spotty British accents with very poor results. It’s just awful. Either she should stick with her clear US American accent or do a complete British one, which I highly doubt she is capable of. It’s such a shame because the novel itself is amusing and entertaining - the reading is constantly jarring me out of it.

I really enjoyed this book and the entire series! Having already listened to all four books in German, I couldn't resist revisiting this one, especially since it's available for free. This book is not only amusing and engaging but also brimming with romance. The writing is exceptional, making it a truly delightful experience. I wholeheartedly recommend it—definitely a thumbs up!

the story is cute and fun, the reader ,however, is not. Accent work is shoddy at best and very distracting. American english and British english have different emphasis and beats and the reader seemed to miss all of them.

I really like the story of this audiobook. It's lighthearted, exciting, gripping and lovely. Basically a magic world crime story with a bit of a romance mixed in. I'm almost through the second audiobook and have already purchased the third. But with audiobooks I feel the story is only half of the impression, the speaker needs to fit as well and this one is just awful (I'm sorry to say this as it sounds quite harsh but it was really something that bothered me all through the story). At times it almost sounds like a computer voice and sometimes when trying to make the main character sound as aloof as she is described in the story, the speaker just totally "overacts". Not great and unfortunately not getting any better in the second audiobook. My hopes are now on the third...
