The characters are kind of lame. The book mainly focusses on 4 characters so far.
We got the main character. Who is a robot. Dude has effectively no emotion. Being stuck inside this digital world leaves him completely cold. Almost dying? Nothing. Seeing the druid girl wearing a leather halter top, free midriff and a leather short skirt. He just says she looks like a typical next door kinda girl and is left cold beside that.
Dude sees people freaking out about being stuck inside the game. He does not give a shit and goes questing.
Then we got the 14 year old kid now dwarf. Dude has a couple lines. Most we see of him is that he is sometimes sad about being stuck in the game and liking druid girl.
Druid girl has like the most personality which doesnt mean much. Witch girl feels like some of the dps I had when raidleading who would be mute during the raid and then complain in chat afterwards.
Ofc these characters while not interesting can be fine if the story is interesting. Which it is not. Basically all they have done so far is basic side quests for 3 side character goons and a couple random encounters. These quests didnt really have much meaning. It was literally (Spoilers incoming if you want to call this spoilers) about some people smuggling in leathers so as to not pay import taxes and killing some other smugglers to get rid of the competition.
The fact that the strongest characters are apparently going to be level 20 or 25 and there are apparently only a couple hundred people stuck in the game, means there are not going to be large scale battles or something either.
The last thing I have to complain about is the writing style. It honestly feels like something I would write. Which is not a compliment as English is my secondary language and I suck at writing even in my primary one.
Conversations do not feel fluid. Battles are uninteresting and characters are emotionless. Also the story for some reason keeps on repeating what has already happened as if it was written for someone with dementia or some serial you tune in randomly. The story told me like 10-15 times so far that the dwarf is a 14 yrs old kid and that they are stuck in the game.
I'm giving this two stars as it isnt a complete failure. The story so far did not need to retcon anything it did before like some others do. I like the speaker even though even he can't really do much about the story being boring and there is no big amount of cringe. No sex scenes or harem stuff either.
It is just so ungodly boring.
