"Albert makes a deeper and more sensitive investigation into what love is than most romances." —New York Times Book Review on Conventionally Yours

A meet-cute leads to more than they expected in this military-hero romance from award-winning author Annabeth Albert

Navy chief Calder Euler loves to win big. His latest score? A remote mountain cabin. Checking it out is supposed to be a quick trip, but Calder’s luck abruptly turns when a freak injury and a freakier snowstorm leave him stranded.

Oh, and the cabin isn’t empty. A silver fox caring for two young girls claims that the property is his, but Calder’s paperwork says otherwise.

Felix Sigurd is on a losing streak, and his ex-husband risking the cabin in a reckless bet is only the latest in a series of misfortunes. He’ll tolerate the handsome stranger for a couple nights--even care for his injuries—but that’s it.

Calder doesn’t know a damn thing about kids, but making pancakes for Felix’s girls is a surprising delight. Trapped in the cabin, the four of them slip easily into the rhythms of a family. But when the ice melts, they’ll have to decide if a future together is in the cards.

Carina Adores is home to romantic love stories where LGBTQ+ characters find their happily-ever-afters.

I wonder if the writer gave Felix his name in the sense of "nomen est omen" - because he allowed himself to be so self reliant that he forgot to look at the bright side of life. Luckily, he was not forced to do everything on his own, in the long run. His precious nieces, especially Charlotte, are great eye opener.
Calder's character development in this short book is impressive.
This was the first time this different kind of intimacy, Calder and Felix established, is represented in a book I read - I enjoyed that they braved being truly open with each other.
I like when my two favourite narrators do a splendid job together.
I was pleased by this book, but it ended quite abruptly.

Family is so much more than being related to someone.

I have to say - I liked this one waay better than the first book. Somehow, Joel Leslie and Greg Boudreaux worked better together here.

Felix and Calder each have their own insecurities about (new) relationships, but the way they manage to work through their issues felt like a different approach to the usual pining/heartache. Yes, there were scenes that hurt because they didn't immediately say what they thought and wanted but it felt so relatable.

What I loved most was the neverending communication. Especially with their (sexual) needs - a thing I don't come across very often in books. And how they didn't need to change the other person to fall for each other.

Bothe Calder and Felix had their moments of growth/development and it seemed real.

Very nicely done.

Communication is key
