In this humorous, richly symbolic, meticulously plotted novel, a solitary and simple-hearted weaver has worked his loom in Raveloe and devoted himself to amassing a hoard of golden guineas. However, his life is changed forever when tragedy intervenes and he finds himself responsible for the care of a small golden-haired girl.Public Domain (P)2009 Jimcin Recordings

Beschrijving van Audible

Donna Barkman gives a lucid performance of Silas Marner, the classic Victorian novel by George Eliot. Her euphonious voice complements the expansive prose and the turbulent plot line. The title character is a linen weaver who is falsely accused of theft and loses his love to the man who framed him. He leaves his northern English town for the Midlands in search of a new start. There he suffers additional injustices, but just as he is about to slip into complete despair, an accident brings happiness into his life.
