Über diesen Titel

The instant New York Times bestseller that BookTok calls “absolutely A-M-A-Z-I-N-G” (@hollylovesbooks1519) and “impossible to put down” (@kurryreads), from the author of Local Woman Missing and It's Not Her

Everyone has secrets, but not everyone has remorse…

A terrible accident.

Meghan Michaels is trying to find balance between being a single mom and working full time as an ICU nurse, when a patient named Caitlin arrives in her ward with a traumatic brain injury. They say she jumped from a bridge and plunged over twenty feet to the train tracks below.

A shocking revelation.

When a witness comes forward with new details about Caitlin’s fall, it calls everything they know into question. Was a crime committed? Did someone actually push Caitlin, and if so, who... and why?

No one is safe.

Meghan lets herself get close to Caitlin until she’s deeply entangled in the mystery surrounding her. Only when it’s too late, does she realize that she and her daughter could be the next victims...

“A tense, compelling thriller with completely gasp-worthy twists.” —Nita Prose, #1 bestselling author of The Maid

I’m torn about this thriller. It didn’t grab my attention from the start - I had to pick it up three or four times before it finally began to pull me in. Even then, I wasn’t fully hooked until about 60% through, when the twists finally kicked in. Unfortunately, that’s also when things started to feel a bit muddled.

I felt the author gave the main character an easy way out regarding her secrets—both major reveals seemed to fizzle out without any real consequences. There was also some timeline-splitting, which didn’t really made sense in a way it should, in my opinion, just made things more confusing and felt forced. At times, the writing felt a bit lazy, with forced “thrilling” moments that didn’t seem to serve the plot in a meaningful way.

Overall, the character development was weak, leaving me disconnected from the story. I expected more depth and tighter plotting from a thriller like this.

A thriller that struggles to deliver
