Good book which covers a lot of ground, mixing good detail and nice overviews. The pronunciation of many place names is an absolute disaster and a shame for a book which deals with Scottish history. Worth a buy, but it will be a frustrating experience at times.

The pronunciation of Scottish place names is catastrophically wrong and very irritating! If somebody feels it is a good idea to have an English person narrate a book about Scotland, they should at least research the correct pronunciations!!!
