I can't really remember any book that made me cringe so much. Everyone and the main character's life is so perfect - way over the top. Perfect parents, perfect friendships, perfect looks. It doesn't help to add a distant cousin as a side character mentioned for 2 pages only who has bad luck. Everything feels weird and way too sugary.

So cringeworthy I had to stop listening

Don‘t get me wrong, I love a trivial read for the sake of entertainment and I don‘t mind tall men with broad shoulders, but this is next level. All men in this book are overprotective bodybuilders that hit walls, when angry and get drunk, when sad. This is topped by a female main protagonist, who‘s secret dream is to become a housewife. Honestly, if it wasn‘t for the mobile phones in the story, I would have guessed this story was written 1950! My personal highlight was, when the parents weren‘t reachable via phone for one week, since they wouldn‘t have reception during their backpacking vacation in EUROPE!! It‘s Europe dear god, not Antartika! So you guessed it, I consider this audiobook my worst investment in 2024!
