At its heart, Safe Haven is about finding safety—not just in a physical place (the ranch, obviously), but in a person. The story leans heavily into found family, emotional safety, and second chances, and it does so beautifully.
I absolutely loved the shared background of Ryker, Gideon, and Willow. All three had difficult childhoods, were let down by their families, and ultimately found their safe space at Triple Creek Ranch. Watching Ryker and Gideon grow from hating each other as kids into forming a strong, brotherly bond was deeply satisfying. They may not be family by blood, but they are family in every way that matters.
Even Willow’s nephew, Aiden, mirrors that theme. His storyline adds depth and layers to the book, and it was incredibly rewarding to see his growth throughout the story alongside the main characters.
Ryker was an extremely satisfying MMC: a retired hot hockey player turned rancher with a big heart. He’s possessive, dutiful, laid-back, cool, and deeply passionate—the kind of man who makes “safe place” feel earned and real.
Willow was a breath of fresh air as an FMC. She’s confident, beautiful, cool, fiercely protective (total mama bear energy), knows exactly what she wants, and I loved that she’s an audiobook narrator. She felt grounded, mature, and real.
One of my favorite aspects of this romance was how refreshingly adult it was. There’s no unnecessary drama or frustrating misunderstandings. These are two people in their mid-30s who communicate, respect each other, and act like grown-ups—and that made their connection feel even more intimate and comforting.
🎧 Narration:
Connor Crais and Savannah Peachwood are truly an elite pairing. Both bring so much emotional depth, warmth, and passion to their performances, elevating the tenderness and longing at the core of the story. This audiobook felt like a warm hug—comforting, heartfelt, and immersive.
Overall, Safe Haven was a quick, comforting read with low drama, strong emotional grounding, and a beautiful focus on family, friendship, and finding where—and with whom—you belong. The spice was nicely done: sexy, well-timed, and just the right amount.
And yes… I cannot wait for Gideon’s story.
