Just finished this. I'm a big fan of domestic thrillers, but I found this one too far fetched and bordering on a ghost story at times. I prefer psychological thrillers that terrify you *because* they remain believable (like The Push). Re the audio experience: The female narrator was way too over-the-top for me; it took me out of the story a lot. Richard's narration on the other hand was amazing.

Average story / female narrator OTT

I thought this was very clever; gripping without being overwhelming and a joy to listen to. Special mention for the narrators: excellent job!

If you're wavering, go for it...

That book was not for me. I love Richard Armitage reading, but his part was unfortunately rather small in comparison. The female narrator did - technically speaking - a really good job, but was too dramatical and over the top for my liking. (Like the narrators in ads, where the product is GREAT, AWESOME and PERFECT 🫣).

The book itself was well written, I like the authors storytelling and twists. But: If I hear "Scratch that!" or "These times .." ever again, I'll go crazy, I'm sorry .. nearly couln't bear it after the 20th time 🙃. These phrases were mentionend way to often and made the otherwise good audiobook hard to listen to.

But if you are looking for a spooky and moody thriller, this one is might for you :).

"Scratch that"!

The plot was dull and the characters were bizarrely naive. Because I couldn't return it, I cranked up the playback speed just to finish. It failed as a thriller; there was no tension at any point. I felt so little for the characters that I wouldn't have even cared if one had died. The narrators were the only redeeming quality.

Dull and with zero tension

The beginning was ok and the characters were very detached and not credible at all. i was disappointed and had to stop listening because the story line and the dialogue was tedious.

i couldn't finish it
