Cleverly constructed, with engaging characters and lots of good jokes, this sparkling Wizard of Oz-inspired fantasy is . . . one of the quirkiest dystopias ever imagined

Fforde paints a Terry Pratchett-esque picture laced with laughter
That mischievous little monkey Jasper Fforde was on his best form yet with Red Side Story . . . It was possible to invest a little in the characters, as well as enjoying the incessant puns and Fforde's marvellously eccentric imagination

I‘ve waited for this book well over a decade and wasn’t prepared to say: it was worth it!

After re-reading Shades of Grey last week to directly continue with Red Side Story (on Audiobook), I felt the narrative voice is quite consistent: I loved the wittiness and uncovering lots of twists and turns.
The last sentences made me smile and even left me with a teary eye, but most of all - I WANT TO KNOW THE REST OF THE STORY!!! … I hope it doesn’t take another decade :)

Fantastic world building, a truly dystopic society, suspence-loaded until the end. Loved it! I am afraid of book 3 because book wrapped it up so nicely.
