Über diesen Titel

From the breakout SFF superstar author of Murderbot comes the remarkable sequel to the USA Today and Sunday Times bestselling novel, Witch King. A fantasy of epic scope, Queen Demon is a story of power and friendship, of trust and betrayal, and of the families we choose.

Dahin, a beloved member of the Witch King's coterie, believes he has clues to the location of the Hierarchs' Well, and the Witch King Kai, along with his companions Ziede and Tahren, knowing there's something he isn't telling them, travel with him to the rebuilt university of Ancartre, which may be dangerously close to finding the Well itself.

Can Kai stop the rise of a new Hierarch?

And can he trust his companions to do what’s right?

Follow Kai to the end of the world in this thrilling sequel to the USA Today-bestselling Witch King.

"Narrator Eric Mok ensures that each character, past and present, is instantly recognizable. Listeners are rewarded with a sweeping, immersive story full of fascinating details and studded with small, intimate, moving moments between characters we come to care deeply about." — AudioFile

It's difficult to take a break because every chapter ends in a cliffhanger and both past and present are gripping. Now the locations diverge. Past and present go their separate ways. On one side trying to find allies and fighting to free the Rising World, on the other, now that the whole team is back together, the adventure to find the Well. Still nothing on how Bashasa died, that strand of the story at least needs another book. The Well, well, we'll see...
Kai and his family are lovely as ever.
The reader, though, makes it difficult. Landscapes and rest stops are described in the same slow, sharply emphasized tone as battle scenes. The only "normal" parts are conversations. The rhythm of the story, between calm moments and action gets lost. I preferred the printed book over the audio version.
