Ja, man lädt sich das Hörbuch vermutlich hauptsächlich, weil man ihn aus Downton Abbey kennt. Aber er hat so viele gut erzählte kleine Geschichten mit großartigen Schauspielern der englischen Theaterszene, weit vor besagter Zeit dieser Serie, dass man bereits nach den ersten Stunden kaum auf Pause drücken möchte. Mit ganz tollem Humor geschrieben, wie ich finde. Auch die Erlebnisse seiner Kindheit. Habe in der ersten halben Stunde mehrfach laut lachen müssen, weil man es sich einfach gut bildlich vorstellen kann.

In keinster Weise langweilig vorgetragen oder einfach nur "abgelesen". Ab und an ein wenig schnell in der Sprechweise, aber nach diversen Durchläufen von Downton im Original ist man da schnell wieder drin. Es hilft wirklich, wenn man die englische Stimme schon gut kennt. Alles in allem auch für non native speaker gut verständlich. Und ja, ich bin erst auf der Hälfte, aber man hat einfach das Bedürfnis, eine Rezension zu schreiben, wenn man sofort begeistert ist von einem Titel. Und das ist hier der Fall.

Just simply wonderful and heartwarming. You are swept away in the world of behind the scenes of theatre and movies, witty and funny and very British. Wonderfully narrated from the author himself. You get lost and never wanting him to stop telling the stories of his life.
