The premise sounds great but the plot is very disappointing. The protagonists actions don't have much effect on the plot at all. Anything important happens by coincidence or because of other characters doing stuff "off screen". For a smart and strong character she feels very underutilized.
On the plus side, there is refreshingly little romance in this book and the relationship of the protagonist and her brother is heartwarming.
The narrator is average. Easy to listen to but nothing special.
