Über diesen Titel
“Not only a sparkling romantic comedy, but a thoughtful look at navigating grief and the hopefulness of opening yourself to new possibilities. Bennet is messy and relatable, and her chemistry with Henry is delicious, crackling, and immediate.” —Trish Doller, internationally bestselling author of Float Plan
If your twenties are supposed to be the best years of your life, Bennet Taylor is failing miserably . . . with a big emphasis on the miserable. Where’s that zest she keeps hearing about? She’s a temp worker in New York City with no direction, no future, and no social life. And at the painful center of this listlessness is grief over the death of her first love.
When Bennet runs into Henry Adams just hours after standing him up for a first date, she makes an alcohol-fueled confession: She’s not ready to date. In fact, it’s been years since she felt passion for something. Not even pottery, or organized sports—not anything. Rather than leaving her to ruminate, Henry jumps at the opportunity for adventure: Bennet needs to find a passion for life, and Henry will help her find it. Every Saturday, they’ll try something new in New York City. As friends, of course.
As their “passion project” continues, the pair tackle everything from carpentry to tattooing to rappelling off skyscrapers, and Bennet feels her guarded exterior ebbing away. But as secrets surface, Bennet has to decide what she wants, and if she’s truly ready to move on. With emotional resonance and sparkling banter, Passion Project is a fun, flirty, thoughtful story of finding a spark—and igniting happiness.
phew. i never would've thought this (audio)book would move something so detrimental within me when i picked this up. i felt feelings that i had buried in boxes so deeply within me i was sure they'd never see the light of day again. this was absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! and i will surely take it to my grave with me, strongly clutching it to my chest when the time comes.
i don't know how but the narrator of the audiobook was so amazing, it blew me away. she articulated every single feeling of bennet, our fmc, to the point it had me screaming, laughing, and crying right alongside her. i LOVED this audiobook! SO MUCH! and the story... wow, that one blew me away, too. this healed me in ways i cannot bear to describe. i needed this. what a breath of fresh air! THIS is how you write romance, people. this was gut-wrenching, haunting, funny and witty and SO well-researched. i loved the depiction of anxiety and depression and adhd and grief and dealing with death of a loved one. finding joy in the small things, finding your passion, finding love again. i felt this down to my bones and i need this to be a "everyone needs to read this once in their lifetime" book. i'm declaring it to be that kind of book, especially if you're in you're 20s, trying to find your "why" and your little corner of life, where you fit in.
henry was such a gentle and patient counter character for bennet that it made my heart ache. he reminded me so much of my own partner and what he must've gone through with me grieving parts of myself that i lost within a toxic relationship. their fall out broke my heart for him, so so much, and even though i understood their actions, it made my heart ache and my chest fill with pain and unspoken words. this was an absolute masterpiece. i will carry it with me wherever i go from now on, remembering always that the love i deserve is cannot be measured up by whether i'm enough or not. and one more thing i will always remember is that:
"having your shit together is not a prerequisite for love" 🩷
i am officially a changed woman!!!!!
