About reluctant ghost whisperers & second chances

When his boss thinks FBI profiler Rain has lost it, he is sent back to his Florida hometown on a cold case investigation to get him out of the way. Rain shall find evidence about a young woman that disappeared five years ago, solving the case would be a bonus. But at home not only his hippy parents and outgoing twin sister are waiting. There is also his former colleague/ex-lover Daniel at the local police department, whom he pissed off by leaving in the first place. Not enough already on Rain's plate, the ghosts following him are persistant and won't go away no matter how hard he tries to ignore them.

I love the well balanced mixture of ghost/mystery, solid police work /crime solving and the roller coaster of a tender and steeming hot romance between Rain and Danny. S.E.Harnon has this rare gift of making me snort, grin, outright laugh, chuckle and then be anxiously worried for the MCs in danger. The story is told from Rain's POV, so we have a first row seat with his sharp thoughts, ghost encounters and his second chance with Danny. I must admit I still have not decided if I like Rain or not. On one hand his dry sense of humor, his passion and his snide remarks tick my boxes. But on the other hand I couldn't understand his reluctancy to accept his special abilities. And I had really been vexed with Rain for behaving like a total jerk to ghost Ethan at their final encounter.

Noah Michael Levine has done a stunning job with narrating this mulitlayered story filled with lots of witty dialoges and detailed observations. His interpretation of Rain is simply perfect! While listening I wasn´t always sure if that had been just Rain´s thoughts or if he had said them out loud. Exactly how he appeared to his fellow men in the story, weird and with a mouth that sometimes worked faster than his brain censor. Mr. Levine´s voice talent is fluent and affactionate, making it a pleasure to follow him through this 8 ½ hour long special adventure.

Fantastic Cop romance

This book was crazy good. It had the right mix of cop work, mystery and funny touch. And Dany and Rain really work well together.

I giggled at the name Rainstorm a lot. And enjoyed the general atmosphere of the book. The author dealt well with respect for the victims and the personal space of a agent. The narrator did a great job, too.

I really liked the characters, the story and the speakers. Now I'm going to listen to the next book in the series.
