so far the books of Baldacci haven't impressed me much: too much of stereotypical storylines and so on.
hovewer, this first Archer novel was sublime, a true and well composed noir detective novel of my taste: the story's is credible yet creative as are the characters and their intelligent conversations.
The speaker is also very well spoken and the way he adjusts his pace of voice to the plot, is just awesome ;).

Even the narrator has this old intonation of black and white movies. I was afraid, this story could be little off without the modern means of communication and information research. But actually the author had to be much stronger in storytelling and reasoning to make it work. So I like this crime story much more than many others taking in today's time. The hero "Archer" is strong principled and often thinks too harmless about other people. In a way he is too gullible. But he never gives up so that at the end things are getting really interesting.
