Über diesen Titel

'Reason and imagination and all mental chatter died down... I forgot my name, my humanness, my thingness, all that could be called me or mine. Past and future dropped away... Lighter than air, clearer than glass, altogether released from myself, I was nowhere around.' Thus Douglas Harding describes his first experience of headlessness, or no self. First published in 1961, this is a classic work which conveys the experience that mystics of all times have tried to put words to.

Interesting point of view, speaking voice is not always easy to listen to but it did not hold me back from enjoying and finishing the content. Good stuff overall.

Inspiring perspective

It seems like the author has a genuine message, but his choice of words didn’t quite reach me. I am pretty familiar with the subject at hand, but honestly, sometimes I simply didn’t understand what he was trying to convey.

At least one reason was certainly that I found it hard to listen to the speaker. He has a high, thin, raspy voice with a painfully sharp “s”. Whosoever gave that man the idea of becoming a speaker? It is certainly a matter of taste, and his technique is quite professional, but since I take that as a given, I cannot bring myself to give him more than one star. He was the reason I almost quit the text prematurely, I found it so aversive to hear his voice.

Okay content, terrible speaker
