Über diesen Titel
Join these dark, dirty, and corrupt cowboys on the Carsons' ranch. Where boundaries are pushed, laws are broken, and limits are tested.
Ranching isn't easy, especially on the border of Yellowstone.
The days are long, the competition is ruthless, and there's always someone out there waiting to take what's yours.
For my family to survive, things have to go back to the way they were.
The Carsons used to run Fork River. We were feared but respected. My father changed that legacy by thinking he could run things legitimately.
He lost our power, he lost our control, and he lost our respect.
Now I'm taking it back…
None of us wants my father to remarry, and when his new wife moves out here from L.A., she brings her feisty brat of a daughter with her.
Maisie couldn't make it any clearer that she doesn't want to be here.
She's rude, obnoxious, and far too privileged for life on the ranch. But it doesn't matter how hard I try, I can't get her out of my head.
It's selfish of me to want her. I'm too old, too short-tempered, and the darkness inside me would be destroying.
When it comes to her, I've only got one option.
It doesn't matter how much it hurts, I need to make the girl off limits…
Off Limits is book one in the Corrupt Cowboys Series and the first part of Garrett and Maisie's duet. For mature listeners.
©2023 Emma Creed (P)2025 Podium AudioThis book gave me major Yellowstone vibes—and I mean a lot. It’s very clearly inspired by that world, and honestly? I loved it.
The story follows the Carson brothers—Garrett, Cole, and Wade—with this installment focusing on Garrett, the eldest, most broody brother who runs the ranch. Enter Maisie, his newly announced stepsister. She’s only 18 and 14 years younger than Garrett, which immediately sets the stage for a very off-limits dynamic. The mutual attraction is strong, the tension is high, and the internal struggle is very much front and center.
In addition to the romance, there are a lot of family secrets and buried truths surrounding the Carsons. You can feel that something is simmering beneath the surface the entire time—power, control, past choices—but none of those secrets are actually revealed in this book, clearly setting things up for future installments.
Contrary to what the cover suggests, this book is not spicy. There is one single “spicy” scene—with no touching—and the first kiss doesn’t happen until around 80%. So if you’re going in expecting heat, definitely adjust expectations.
Each brother gets two books in the series. While this doesn’t end on a brutal cliffhanger, it also does not conclude Garrett and Maisie’s relationship, which I assume (and hope) will continue in book two. I will definitely keep reading to finish their story.
These cowboys are dark, corrupt, and morally gray, but for reasons that make sense—very much that “protect what’s ours at any cost” mentality. Again… very Yellowstone.
🎧 The audiobook narration was a pleasant surprise. I didn’t know either narrator beforehand, but Ryan H. Reid and Sadie Provost did an excellent job bringing out the emotions and tension between the characters. Unfortunately, there are no audiobooks available for the rest of the series, which is a huge bummer for me as an audiobook addict.
