Not a Fan has called more than 1 million people to consider the demands and rewards of being a true disciple - moving from fan to follower in their relationship with God.
How about you: Are you a fan or a follower? Go ahead, think honestly about your relationship with God...but don't answer too quickly. In fact, you may want to listen to this audiobook before you answer at all. Not a Fan is your DTR with God - a "define the relationship" conversation to determine exactly where you stand.
You may indeed be a passionate, fully devoted follower of Jesus. Or, you may be just a fan who admires Jesus but isn't ready to let him cramp your style. Then again, maybe you're not into Jesus, period.
Not a Fan calls you to consider the demands and rewards of being a true disciple. With frankness sprinkled with humor, Idleman invites you to live the way Jesus lived, love the way he loved, pray the way he prayed, and never give up living for the One who gave his all for you.

Either an eye opener or offending
I listened to the audiobook after watching the movie "not a fan".
The movie was really good, but in fact just an opener to what Kyle Idleman speaks about in detail in this book.
Unlinke in the movie, there is no overall story. And even if some elements of the film are repeated, the book has so much more to say.
The core question is: "Are you just a fan of Jesus, or a you a follower". Kyle Idleman reflects this question throughout the whole book with a lot of testimonys from "real" people, a lot of explanations and parables.
I listened to the book after I had a breakdown in my life where I rethought my relationship to Jesus. In fact, the findings and conclusion to which I came by myself (or rather by the grace of god), were pretty much matched by why Kyle Idleman says in his book.
Hence I doubt, that everyone will have the same openness towards the book's content.
Some might even be offended. But one will definately reflect his own life after listening to it.
A bonus for me is, that the author himself is doing the narration. It sounds much more real to me, this way. (Maybe also because I known his voice from the movie).
I really wonder what non-christians would think after reading such a book. I guess they would either call Chrstianity insane or become a Christian themselves...
