This audiobook gave great insight into what kind of people FDR and his wife were. One gets an immediate sense of their humanity from intimate details of their private life: Eleanor suffered bouts of depression, while FDR had to come to terms with paralysis. There's even a bit of oddly funny trivia, as when the first couple invited Harry Hopkins (head of the WPA and then Secretary of State) to stay the night at the White House, and he stayed for 3 years!
