As commonly happens with Ms Roberts' family sagas, the last in the series is filled with a lot of humour alongside the drama. This last one is Boyd & Cilla's daughter Allison's story - who has followed in her father's footsteps. All the Night Tales major characters meet up again - and includes others from other series as well. For me it's a highlight of NR - she has created a universe where often, however briefly, characters find mention or even inclusion in other series. This overlap gives special contnuity and weight to her stories.
The narrator has more depth in her characterizations this time - and shows a wealth of feeling sometimes missing in earlier parts of this saga.
