Donald Tysons Adaption von Lovecrafts fiktivem magischem Necronomicon ist von all den Versuchen, dieses erfundene Buch in die Tat umsetzen, die beste, die ich bis jetzt gelesen habe.

Das Buch ist gut konzipiert und sehr spannend geschrieben. Ich habe die Geschiche des "verrückten Arabers" Alhazred quasi atemlos verfolgt.

Es ist eine fiktive Biographie und gleichzeitig ein magischer Grimoire, der alle Lovecraft-Fans begeistern dürfte. Alle wichtigen Gottheiten des Cthulhu-Mythos werden darin aufgeführt.

Ich finde es großartig, dass fiktive Zauberbücher wie das Necronomicon und das Delamelanicon (Die neun Pforten) von Autoren mit Leben erfüllt worden sind.

Matt Godfrey ist ein großartiger Sprecher. Ich habe das Buch als Begleitung zum Hörbuch mitgelesen. Er artikuliert sehr verständllich und wird nur dann pathetisch, wenn es vom Text her angebracht ist.

I was skeptical about this book, seeing that the Necronomicon is such an essential part of the Cthulhu mythos as it was crafted by Lovecraft and his circle. Yet in this case, the author did an impressive job in portraying the travels of the mad Arab and the unsettling discoveries he made throughout his life. The book is an engaging read: its depictions of bizarre worlds and arcane rituals are vivid and atmospheric. I cannot fully agree with every interpretation presented—such as the retelling of the Tower of Babel and its fall—but overall, it remains a compelling and worthwhile read.
