Over 1 million Discworld audiobooks sold – discover the extraordinary universe of Terry Pratchett’s Discworld like never before

'Holy Wood is a different sort of place. People act differently here. Everywhere else the most important things are gods or money or cattle. Here, the most important thing is to be important.'

Cameras roll, for the first time, on the Discworld when alchemists discover the excitement of the silver screen. But what is the dark secret of Holy Wood hill? As the cliches of Tinsel Town pour into the world, it's up to the Disc's first film stars to find out . . .

Join Victor Tugelbend ('Can't sing. Can't dance. Can handle a sword a little') and Theda Withel ('I come from a little town you've probably never heard of') as they battle the forces of evil and cinema advertising.

They're about to discover that the magic of the silver screen might be powerful enough to put an end to, well, everything.

The Discworld novels can be read in any order but Moving Pictures is a standalone novel.

Pratchett was his usual witty self, but there was little suspense until the last couple of hours. Maybe i just don’t like the industrial revolution series

Performance good, story not my cup of tea

This is one of the weaker stories the great Sir Terry produced, but still an explosion of wit, heart and creativity. Fans will enjoy it, of course. Movie enthusiasts may giggle along as well. But if you're just about to discover the Discworld series, I honestly suggest starting somewhere else.

I thoroughly enjoyed Jason Isaacs read, he is such a powerful entertainer. Different characters came to life distinctively from each other through voices and accents. He has a strong reading voice overall, it sounds a bit as if he was smiling thoughout the whole reading process. I felt swept away. His reading style isn't ecxactly one you can fall asleep to, in my opinion.

Discworld discovers Movie-Magic

A fun story with colourful characters, well-timed jokes and a lot of hidden details for movie and fantasy enthousiasts. Perhaps not the strongest entry in the entire discworld series, but still very much worthwhile. Jason Isaacs (aka Lucius Malfoy) is a very good narrator, effortlessly jumping between the different voices and bringing the characters to life. It was a bit surprising to me after listening to his James Bond performance that his rather dark and smokey voice fits such a cheerful and carefree novel too, but it absolutely did.

We need a thousand elephants here!

Look, I think the voice actors did a good job. But the main narrator's voice is, most of the time, barely audible (hah!) while all characters are much, much louder. And they shout a lot, which makes it exponentially worse. I also didn't like the book itself, even though I'm a huge Discworld fan, and that didn't help either.

An ear-destroying narration of a mildly amusing book
