Once again, Connor Crais and Erin Mallon delivered narration magic. These two are my absolute favorites, and their duet performance made the story even more immersive and enjoyable. I also found myself relating to this story even more than Mountain Boss, which made it an even richer experience.
So, why not five stars?
1️⃣ The excessive number of chapters. Just like in book one, the 158+ super-short chapters disrupt the flow—especially during spicy scenes. It really pulls you out of the moment. Especially annoying for the audiobook experience.
2️⃣ The age portrayal. I have to say this—50 is NOT old! The narrative leaned a bit too much into “I’m 56, I’m old, I wake up to pee in the night,” and it felt off. Some people have gray hair at 28; some don’t until they’re 60. The “old man” angle just felt unnecessary—age-gap tension would still work without painting him as ancient.
3️⃣ I’m not really into the daddy kink—especially since he’s her dad’s best friend! But, to be fair, the title made that clear, so I knew what I was getting into.
All that said, I truly loved this story. It’s heartfelt, swoony, and wonderfully told. And with the audiobook’s incredible narration, the read-listen experience was fantastic. Definitely recommend this one—just be ready for a lot of chapters!
