But then we get to the 2nd book and it seems the author suddenly thought that the protagonist needs to be fighting with all his friends so he and most of the ppl around him suddenly lose 80 IQ points and start behaving like mean-spirited buffoons.
And that went on for hours until I couldn't stand the story anymore.
