Eine wunderbare Sprecherin, die die beiden Hauptakteurinnen zum Leben erweckt. Enid sehr umgangssprachlich, aber immer gut zu verstehen, Marjorie mit sorgfältigem Queens English, ein Hörvergnügen.
Auf das Ende war ich nicht vorbereitet, insgesamt ist es eine gute, unterhaltsame, oft witzige Geschichte über 2 völlig unterschiedliche Frauen, die beide ihr Lebensziel verfolgen.
Vielleicht keine große Literatur, aber ein sehr schönes Buch.

Set in 1950s Britain , it gives a glimpse of tired, restricted times and the sudden desire of a stuffy spinster, Miss Benson, to realise her childhood dream to find a golden beetle. She advertises for a traveling companion and ends up with a most unlikely match in Enid Pretty. The book details their adventures and journeys both in distance and to themselves and is in turns engrossing, amusing, surprising and emotional. Above all, it’s a fun book! Highly recommend!

Eine Freundin hat mir das Buch empfohlen. Es hat mir ganz kurz gedauert und dann war ich gefesselt. Juliet Stevenson liest wunderbar und Miss Bensons abenteuerliche Reise sehr bewegend.
