The author's tips for how to get family members (particularly kids) involves simply explaining that less toys means more time at the beach, or doing some other activity. My daughter is too young for me to try that approach on her, but I'm not sure how easily kids can catch on to minimalism with abstract explanations like that.

Additionally, I find it worth saying that while as the home manager, I may wish to live a Minimalist life, but that does by no means indicate that the rest of my family, especially my children, need to subscribe to that lifestyle. The book implies that the decision of the reader (=parent) to become Minimalist means that all people in the household must become Minimalists, too, and that is simply not true

A nice read but too rigid for families
