Über diesen Titel
Oxford—celebrated city of dreaming spires and class warfare—is an ambition come true for geeky upper-middle-class lesbian Charlotte and charismatic working-class straight Millie.
Against the odds, theirs is an instant best friendship. Forever.
Exuberant Millie is a breath of fresh air for polite Charlotte and a force of nature within the university's hallowed walls. And they are going to be the best lawyers of their year and change the world.
But their world changes instead when things go queerly sideways, and they haven't seen each other since.
Ten years on and Charlotte returns to where it all began. She has a new job at a prestigious law firm and Oxford is as beautiful as ever. She's a safe distance from her overbearing barrister mother Nicola and three office floors from her snappy college mentor, Olivia.
Then Millie bounds around the corner wanting to be friends again and it's as if the last decade never happened. Will it be different the second time around? Can they be friends again? Or will love and attraction change things?
©2023 Clare Ashton (P)2023 TantorAt some point I got a little confused about the inclusion of Olivia's mother and her role in the story and would have wished for more of a resolution of the family conflict with Charlotte and her mom, but I guess it just wasn't the point of the story.
This was my first audio book by Gabrielle Baker and I admit I had to get used to her style of reading. The characters are mostly distinguishable and she is able to give a lot of feelings to the characters' voices. She leaves a lot of pauses though and reads rather slowly, so I listened to it on 1.2 times speed.
beautiful friendship and the perfect toaster oven

The narrator does a great job with making the story come to life, especially loved the way she voiced the posh british accent then effortlessly switching back to 'normal'.
There is quite some wisdom to life I am taking from this book, it really made me think about myself, also made me smile a whole lot and at times laugh out loud. It is a heartwarming story way deeper than your common rom-com without being depressing or over the top, totally recommend!!!!!
Way better than your average rom-com
