Story:

The story wasn't as interesting as I would have expected after the first few minutes. I liked the beginning, but was disappointed by the further development of the novel.

The main characters could have been fleshed out more, especially the male protagonist. I kept wondering when the relationship between the leads would finally begin. There was hardly anything to make their attraction to each other believable.

On the contrary, the male character's first love interest was described in such detail and accuracy one couldn't help wondering why the writer even chose to introduce a third person into the mix. There wasn't even an interesting love triangle.

The two females seemed so absorbed with their own interests they hardly had time to notice the male in question. The latter seemed so utterly besotted with his first love, that the reader/listener kept wondering why and when he would have fallenl in love with the next girl.

Reading:

As long as the reader did genuine English lilts she was pleasant to listen to, but when she tried emulating English with Austrian accent it became almost unbearable. The screeching and caterwauling she used to represent the supposedly German speaking characters were simply appalling.

People speaking English with a German accent sound nothing like what the reader seemed to think they do. The frequent mispronunciation of German words was rather cringeworthy.Maybe the reader should have consulted an German native speaker to help her with her pronunciation.

Had I known more about this book/audio, I'd probably have saved my money for another one. Sorry to say that recording was quite disappointing.

Harmless Entertainment with Annoying Parts

In the book her English is described as unaccented and educated. Yet still the narrator gives her a terrible German accent. The story is nice, but the narrator is simply annoying,couldn't go through with it.
