Joe Lynch is just an ordinary happily-married man - until one split-second decision throws his life into crisis.

When Joe sees his wife having a confrontation with family friend Ben, it's the first hint that she's been lying to him - about everything. And when he steps in to protect her, a harmless shove knocks Ben to the ground. And he's not moving...

Gripping, unputdownable and packed with twists and turns from the first page to the very last, this stunning psychological thriller will make you question: can we ever really trust the ones we love . . .

Sehr spannender Thriller mit vielen Twists and Turns.
Very well done Richard Armitage!

uneven storytelling. not sure about the real world implications of the denouement - but surprised i was by the ending. great narration as always by richard armitage, which saved the book for me.

from slog to suspense and back

Just brilliant, although, I admit, I felt for Joe and had difficulties a few times to continue as everything was closing down on the guy and it felt so brutally unfair. Unfortunately, as the ending was the only ending one would not have expected, it was almost inevitable. But this did not spoil the story at all. Great book, and superb reading by Richard Armitage.

Nail-biting and claustrophobic

Great story with twists and turns, not predictable an teaching a lot about various human minds, focusing, being naiv and more.

tension

I'm in two minds about this one. As usual, Richard Armitage does a great job narrating this story. His voice, or voices in the plural, are very convincing in leading you through the developments of this nightmare in which the protagonist Joe finds himself. It's told as a first-person narrative and maybe that's the reason I almost couldn't finish this one. It made me so anxious and feeling helpless myself, I just wished it to be over. But I guess that's what a really great story does. It takes you away, drags you down and takes your breath away.

Gripping, intense and oppressive
