Über diesen Titel

Juliet Young always writes letters to her mother, a world-traveling photojournalist. Even after her mother's death, she leaves letters at her grave. It's the only way Juliet can cope.

Declan Murphy isn't the sort of guy you want to cross. In the midst of his court-ordered community service at the local cemetery, he's trying to escape the demons of his past.

When Declan reads a haunting letter left beside a grave, he can't resist writing back. Soon, he's opening up to a perfect stranger, and their connection is immediate. But neither Declan nor Juliet knows that they're not actually strangers. When life at school interferes with their secret life of letters, sparks will fly as Juliet and Declan discover truths that might tear them apart.

... is what you could call the moral of this novel's story. It's about judgement based on assumptions, about grief and about not letting the past define your life. Both protagonists have to deal with pain, guilt and their own inner demons. They're shown as flawed human beings who seek for compassion and a new path in life. Although I'm not part of the demographic audience I still could identify with both, Juliet and Declan, and really felt their despair and longing for a connection.
The speakers did a magnificent job by delivering a heartfelt performance. I couldn't stop listening and finished it in one go.
To sum it up: "Letters to the Lost" deals with complex themes in a mature and realistic way and made me genuinely sad, frustrated and happy. I recommend it wholeheartedly.

Don't judge a book by its cover

Since March 2020 ( you know lockdown and everything ) I fell deeply in love with audiobooks.
And I really enjoy the books Brittany Pressley narrates, somehow she really captures all kinds of feelings the characters in every book go through and the different personality's.
Especially in this story, I really could relate to the characters even though I never had to go through anything like them in my teenage years.
The language and how the author describes everything really got me in different places I would never have expected what surprised me in a good way.
But I would never listened to this audiobook if it wasn't for Brittany Pressley, because the books cover let me think it would be a cheap story but like inside this beautiful story, never judge a books by its cover.
I'm very happy to have found this story and can recommend it to everyone who likes Senior Year Storys picked with different kinds of grief.
