As Margaret sets out to discover where her mother has gone, she must also face the truth of what happened to her family long ago.

Ich mag Briefromane. Noch viel lieber mag ich Briefromane, die mit verschiedenen Sprechern vorgelesen werden. Beides ist sowohl bei der deutschen als auch bei der englischen Version der Fall. Aufgrund der Hörproben war ich sehr versucht, mir die deutsche Version runterzuladen. Aber erstens ist sie gekürzt und zweitens kann man im Deutschen nicht einen schottischen und amerikanischen Akzent darstellen, was den besonderen Reiz der englischen Lesung ausmacht und wirklich sehr gelungen ist. So weit so gut. Leider fällt die Geschichte, obwohl ich teilweise sogar ein wenig mitgefiebert habe, etwas ab. Für meinen Geschmack ist sie zu konstruiert (insbes. das Zusammentreffen im Kriegsgefangenenlager; die lange Trennung; das Zerwürfnis mit dem Bruder) und zu seicht-kitschig (insbes. das Ende).
