Fascinating Road Movie

Emily St. John Mandel created a multidimensional thriller with beautifully carved, intense characters whose ways meet at crucial points and part again. She intertwines biographies and timelines with such expertise that the whole novel becomes a voyage in time and space that culminates at several times and spaces at once. The mezmerizing voice of Alyssa Brasnahan takes you from the desert to the cold of Montreal, from the intimacy of a bedroom to a chase around a continent. The pictures she paints are grandiose and though St. John Mandels storytelling is flawless it leaves the reader behind with a lot of questions.
