    Brought to you by Penguin.

Join Douglas Adams, best-selling and beloved author of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and zoologist Mark Carwardine on an adventure in search of the world’s most endangered and exotic creatures.

In this book, Adams’ self-proclaimed favourite of his own works, the pair encounter animals in imminent peril: the giant Komodo dragon of Indonesia, the lovable kakapo of New Zealand, the blind river dolphins of China, the white rhinos of Zaire, the rare birds of Mauritius island in the Indian Ocean and the alien-like aye-aye of Madagascar. Inimitably witty and poignant, Last Chance to See is both a celebration of our most extraordinary creatures and a warning about what we have to lose if we do not act soon.

Featuring a fantastic new foreword by the authors' longtime friend Stephen Fry and an afterword from Mark Carwardine that considers what has changed since the book was first published, Last Chance to See feels more urgent than ever before.

    Excellent book and excellent narrator

To be honest, I am not a sience-fiction fan. That's why Douglas Adams never found his way into my bookshelf. But that piece of work is completely different. It's a very humorous told true story about him visiting the rarest creatures in the world. Written with a good portion of self-irony it makes the listener so often laugh and still it also makes you think about all the things we as humans do to nature.
Although the topic itself might be severe, Adams doesn't preach. If you like to say, it's "just" a well told story. All the thinking you have to do by yourself.

The content alone is worth listening, but read by Mat Baynton, it's absolutely awesome. He really is a talent. Great voice, great intonation and never boring. I couldn't stop listening! Stephen Fry "only" reads the introduction, but that's by far not a disadvantage.

    It’s about time

Although written in the 1980ies it’s still a mindblowing collection of what’s wrong in our world. Made digestible with some dry British humour and funny metaphors.

    Intonation

Very humorous, but demands to be taken seriously.

Although, as typical for a work of art by Douglas Adams and Steven Fry, it is outstanding and funny, it's theme is of a very serious matter. It meanders between letting you have a laugh and bringing you at the brink of shedding tears in seconds.

Never ever have I thought about the matters of the extinction of entire species more serious and alarming as after this book.

I can recommend this audio book to everyone that isn't just looking for a cheap laugh, but is in need for a deep and serious, yet light and humorous listening experience.

    Perfectly written and read

About a topic everyone should be concerned about. Douglas Adam's is a brilliant humorous writer. And the topic is the most troublesome and urgent issue in human existence.
