While Lady Violet Belmaine is busy sorting out the odd turns her life has recently taken, Hugh St. Sevier repairs to his Kent estate in hopes of embarking on the placid life of a rural physician. Am relevantesten  
mit den anderen Lady-Violet-Büchern hat dieses nicht viel gemeinsam: erzählt wird es abwechselnd von Hugh und Anne und es geht auch mehr um ihr gemeinsames Leben als um Her Ladyship. Diese kommt erst spät dazu - und auch nicht in erster Linie als Ermittlerin, sondern als Patientin.
Am Ende von Teil 6 war ich der Meinung, mit dem siebten Band endet die Reihe, aber da Sebastian und Violet noch nicht verheiratet sind, ist klar, dass da noch ein Buch kommt.
Übrigens leistet sich die Autorin den Luxus, den Namen eines Paares (v.a. der Frau) zu ändern - manchmal in aufeinanderfolgenden Sätzen. Aber immerhin sind es nzr zwei Varianten ... (ein Fehler, der ihr gelegentlich auch in anderen Büchern unterläuft: kein Wunder, wenn man so viele verschiedene Reihen gleichzeitig schreibt!)
