Am relevantesten
Some audiobooks read by their authors are a hard listen, not all writers being good speakers. The audio recording of Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain is not one of them. I was already familiar with the it, having read it many years back while jobbing as a hotel cook and back then I had enjoyed it. But my word does it benefit from Bourdain’s actual voice and emotion in the reading. For instance, what in your own voice might read like macho bragging gets pulled back down to earth with his cool irony. It’s almost a different book. At times it reminds me a little of Scorsese - like Henry’s narration in Goodfellas. Having just finished it, I’m going to listen again.
