A little too unbelievable at times
Great character- and worldbuilding, but a few character development inconsistencies as well as some plotholes.

perfect
perfect final for this trilogy. I love it and will surely read(listen to) it again. all these twists at the end were so surprising but fitting. and reading it for a 2nd time makes you see some things with different eyes. It's my favourite book so far.

A masterful conclusion
I haven't enjoyed a series like this in a long time, I was never bored and the ending was very satisfying. I only could have wishes for an epilogue of some sort to conclude the story in a more peaceful way. I will definitely revisit this series in the future and check out more works from the author.

Felt like a fan fiction of Japanese lightnovel/Manga I know
Am I the only one who felt like this story was inspired by other iconic works? Felt like the dynamic of the relationship between the main characters here, their looks and pattern of behaviour and also many plot features were inspired by Griffith (Laurent) and Guts (Damen) from just the first (and in my opinion still best) Arc of Berserk, where Griffiths still heads the falcon troupe, blended with Iason's (L) and Riki's (D) relationship dynamic and plot points from Ai no Kusabi (queer main characters. cold blond blue-eyed Master and darker skinned black haired 'babarian' slave with a rebellious and honest to boot nature and slaves are called pets and some more similarities, is scifi though). This series felt like a really enjoyable, elaborate and fleshed out alternative version of what if the first Arc of Berserk had continued as first hoped, with a healthy helping of Iason's and Riki's story and characters (especially in Captive prince). 5 stars, because I genuinely enjoyed the series as a whole, still would like some credit to go to the genre predecessors this work seems to have taken inspiration from. Well written and well done - thank you (@the author) :D

Unfassbar schöne Buchreihe
Von Anfang bis zum Ende, ein grandioses Leseerlebnis. In keinster Weise geschmacklos oder unsensibel, obwohl die Themen Sklaverei, Pädophilie, Mord und Sex wiederkehrende Elemente sind, wurde ein so spannendes Gerüst um die Geschichte zweier Brüder aus ihren Reichen und mit ihren Schicksalen verwoben, dass man nicht aufhören kann zu hören/lesen! Eine wunderbare Charakterstudie und Entwicklung der Hauptfiguren Laurent und Damianos und eine noch schönere Liebesgeschichte. Die Spannung, durch die GoT ähnelnden Intrigen im politischen Machtgefälle und die tollen strategischen Schachzüge während der Kämpfe, waren neben dem durchaus gelungenen Humor die Kirsche auf der Torte!
