In the beginning I was just furious the entire time - I was angry with Lilly for not acting the way I wanted her to act. The first time we’re introduced to Ryle, he’s already such a huge walking red flag to me that I couldn’t understand how the story even evolved from there on. And I expected this to be a story romanticising toxic relationships which I had to literally roll my eyes at every five minutes in the beginning. But I kept on listening. And when I finally got to the point where it became obvious that this is a book bringing awareness to domestic abuse, it clicked. I really liked the story. The complexity of toxic relationships, the divide between hating and loving the person - it all came to life in this book. What happens story-wise isn’t all that exciting to me personally. It’s really about the relationships and and the rich inner world of a main character with a complicated history. That’s why I want to say that the story is kind of boring, but also not at all.

Dieses Hörbuch ist wirklich fesselnd. Man fiebert so sehr mit Lily mit und hofft, dass sie aus dieser Abwärtsspirale herauskommt. Es bleibt bis zur letzten Minute spannend!
Besonders bewegend finde ich auch das persönliche Nachwort der Autorin.

Dieses Buch hat mich so gefesselt, dass ich selbst während des Kochens weitergehört habe.
Die Geschichte hat so viel Tiefe und Varianten und Augenblicke, wo man die Luft anhält und mit der Protagonistin leidet. 100% empfehlenswert.

Ich muss sagen, dass ich finde „it ends with us“ ist Colleen Hoover bestes Buch. Dieses Buch ist unglaublich schön geschrieben und man wird wirklich nachdenklich und erkennt, dass es nicht so einfach ist wie man immer denkt in so welchen Beziehungen. Vor allem war ich sehr berührt als ich die Anmerkung der Autorin am Ende der Geschichte gehört habe. Ich bin mir sicher, dass ich noch sehr lange über dieses Buch nachdenken werde.
