One of the best
It’s one of the best books I’ve read from Dean R. Koontz.
I don’t think I should spoil the story, read the book by yourself.

So là là
Not as good as hoped. Story did not resonate with me and is far from convincing. Lately, I feel Koontz is preaching in his books how we should behave in order to be “good people”. Takes all the fun out of his stories.

Beautiful
The story is narrated by the main character, a young man by the name of Addison Goodheart, who has been forced to live underground of a large city in the American north east, due to his self-discribed horrific looks, that would cause violent rage in other people. In contrast to his outward appearence, Addison is of an amazingly loving, forgiving, curious and highly perceptive heart and mind. He can also perceive things that normal eyes cannot see.
One night during his supply runs above ground, Addison meets a girl who will change his world. The two have to face each others fears and longings, and an evil foe.
This novel, and especially this audio version of it, is outstanding. It's full of beautiful prose and contemplation, on good and evil, beauty and uglyness, society, and the perception of reality, without being preachy or political.
MacLeod Andrews' voice and narration couldn't have been more sensible, intuitive and beautiful to read this wonderful book.
