In the Arena is the most personal, profound, and revealing memoir ever written by a major political figure. It is Richard Nixon's frankest, most outspoken book—which includes the inside story of his resignation from the Presidency and its aftermath.

President Nixon's previous books have brilliantly chronicled his public career and examined America's strategic role in the world. Now, for the first time, he shares his private thoughts and feelings on his long career, other great leaders at home and abroad, his own family, the state of the world, the arts of politics and diplomacy, and much more—expanding on his 1978 Memoirs and documenting his role as America's Elder Statesman.

It's a personal statement by one of the most important and influential figures in American history.

Ricard Nixon delivers in his memoirs a defense of his presidency as only Nixon could: Riveting, controversial, at times awkward and maybe even clumsy. It becomes clear why Watergate cost him much of his legacy as a president. As he tries to defend his actions, he can not fully admit his wrongdoings and tries to escape it somehow, leaving the reader with the feeling he hasn‘t told it all. But Nixon is more than just Watergate: As the book turns to foreign policy, Nixon comes out swinging: Proving why he was considered both an effective leader and an intellectual force in this field. The chapters on foreign relations, war and peace are a joy to listen to and show a president who despite is flaws was thoughtful, decisive and almost impossible to take down. The delivery by the man himself never fails to capture ones attention. Despite being rather short, I can fully recommend this audiobook.
