The Temple warns of an ancient evil force reincarnate.
"The elves are acting paranoid. Since when has it been a crime to exhibit advanced magical talent? We used to celebrate these skills, but lately, the Temple will put a person on trial simply for their innate abilities. What happens to those people when they clear their names? If they're innocent, why do they seem to vanish?"
But the people whisper of something sinister in the works.
"I don't know why they want this little girl—sure, she's powerful...
But what's really going on?"

Leif is an antisocial elvish barterman—a traveling jack of all trades who cherishes his solitude. But his peaceful, quiet life is turned upside down after he's tricked into transporting a young girl across the human empire and back to his homeland. Rumors abound that an ancient evil power resides within the child, and as the lines between right and wrong seem to blur, Leif no longer knows who he can trust or where they'll find safety. It seems everyone wants to get their hands on the girl's power, but all Leif wants is to make it home alive.
