Über diesen Titel

Hyperfocus by Chris Bailey is a practical guide to managing your attention – the most powerful resource you have to become more creative, get stuff done, and live a more meaningful life.

'The most productive man you'd ever hope to meet' –
TED

In Hyperfocus, you will learn:

  • How working fewer hours can increase our productivity
  • How we get more done by making our work harder, not easier
  • How we do our best creative work when we're the most tired

Our attention has never been as overwhelmed as it is today and we've never been so busy while accomplishing so little.

In Hyperfocus, Chris Bailey provides profound insights into how we can best manage our attention. He reveals how the brain switches between two mental modes – hyperfocus, our deep concentration mode, and scatterfocus, our creative, reflective mode – and how the surest path to being our most creative and efficient selves at work is to combine them both.

'The best productivity plans call for strategy, not just hacks or tactics – When you read this book, get ready to do your most important work!' – Chris Guillebeau, author of Side Hustle.

There are some good advices and techniques in this book that everyone can use and he explains his thoughts very well but not everyone works in an office and gets distracted in meetings and by emails and in this regard it lacked for me a bit in relatable work space situations.

Others have stated that the book “doesn’t teach you anything you don’t already know” as a critique, but it is far from being a flaw.

What makes this book so incredibly worth it is seeing the sourced science behind the theory.

Knowing why and how happiness makes a difference to productivity will make me think twice about making my happiness take a back seat and using just “willpower”.

Not only that, but being taught ways how to re-energize my mind and even something as simple as “doing nothing” has become an activity that I didn’t even realize I was avoiding.

Insightful.

Everything just works together perfectly - the narrator, the book’s structure, content, writing style, the examples, the exercises and so on.
I really appreciate that the author individualises a few parts - especially the exercises, examples or parts that highlight / emphasise a specific point - to this being an audio book, not a “regular” book out of paper. That makes the experience better and makes the reader feel appreciated and cared for.
It’s also very easy to understand yet not an easy concept.
I really like and appreciate the examples and exercises chosen as anybody can easily identify with these situations and therefore apply them and receive added value.
There is so much more I could add - but I will just finish with the following:
This book is great, I got so much value out of it and will probably do so in the future. I can recommend it to ANYBODY in ANY situation, age, gender, job, etc.

Adding value to many parts of my life
