Not only is this a great story, like basically all by Diana Wynne Jones, the Narrator is just perfect for it.
The way she speaks the different characters is very fitting and atmospheric, highly recommend!

I love, love, love this audiobook! Diana Wynne Jones is (was) a great author, this novel is simply a gem (lovable, relatable main characters, whimsical, witty story) and Kristin Athertons performance as its narrator is outstanding. She also has a such a lovely, mellow voice that you’ll want to listen to this audiobook and hear her voice again and again…

I've read and listened to it after loving the Ghibli movie for years, as it turns out, the book is even better than the movie!
A charming story of fun, flawed characters learning to stand up for themselves and each other while embracing who they are and overcoming insecurities.

It's easy to imagine that the portrayal of Howl in the movie might be how the Howell of the book would tell it on occasions when Sophie isn't around to correct him.
