Inhaltsangabe
"You'll not only break the ice, you'll melt it away with your new skills." -Larry King
"The lost art of verbal communication may be revitalized by Leil Lowndes." -Harvey McKay, author of How to Swim with the Sharks Without Being Eaten Alive
What is that magic quality that makes some people instantly loved and respected? Everyone wants to be their friend (or, if single, their lover). In business, they rise swiftly to the top of the corporate ladder. What is their “Midas touch?”
What it boils down to is a more skillful way of dealing with people.
The author has spent her career teaching people how to communicate for success. In her book How to Talk to Anyone, Lowndes offers 92 easy and effective sure-fire success techniques - she takes the listener from first meeting all the way up to sophisticated techniques used by the big winners in life. In this information-packed audiobook you’ll find:
- 9 ways to make a dynamite first impression
- 14 ways to master small talk, “big talk,” and body language
- 14 ways to walk and talk like a VIP or celebrity
- 6 ways to sound like an insider in any crowd
- 7 ways to establish deep subliminal rapport with anyone
- 9 ways to feed someone’s ego (and know when NOT to!)
- 11 ways to make your phone a powerful communications tool
- 15 ways to work a party like a politician works a room
- 7 ways to talk with tigers and not get eaten alive
In her trademark entertaining and straight-shooting style, Leil gives the techniques catchy names so you’ll remember them when you really need them, including: “Rubberneck the Room,” “Be a Copyclass,” “Come Hither Hands,” “Bare Their Hot Button,” “The Great Scorecard in the Sky,” and “Play the Tombstone Game,” for big success in your social life, romance, and business.
How to Talk to Anyone, which is an update of her popular book, Talking the Winner's Way (see the 5-star reviews of the latter) is based on solid research about techniques that work!
By the way, don't confuse How to Talk to Anyone with one of Leil's previous books, How to Talk to Anybody About Anything. This one is completely different!

Gute Tipps jedoch unstrukturiert

good but NOT better than the classics
while this book is based on techniques about how to be likeable, the classic "how to win friends and influence people" was more about principles.
Some advice was really useful though.
The speaker was great. listening at 1.5x the speed was unproblematic. she has a great pronunciation and speaks very clearly.

Sehr informativ mit hands on approach
Sehr empfehlenswertes audio book, welches Konversationen mit neuen Augen und Ohren betrachten lässt. Ich habe zuvor bereits Bücher wie Wie man Freunde gewinnt und Menschen beeinflusst oder A introduction to NLP gelesen. In How to talk to anyone werden viele Erkenntnisse vertieft und überholt dargestellt.

Ok
Sehr viel Triviales was 90% der Menschheit instinktiv schon macht. Aber schadet nicht sich dessen bewusst zu sein. Ein paar gute (neue) Tricks sind auch dabei.

Great content excellently presented
If you're interested in improving your communication with others and you're ready to put in some effort, this book is for you. Already proved as an invaluable help to me, and I decided to listen to it again immediately after finishing, because there is just so much content that I more than likely missed a part of it.
It's really well-written and easy to understand. It contains a short summary for every "trick" with some guidance in how to use it. I would change not a word of this book. Recommended!

Extremely shallow
The worst book about this topic I have read so far. It takes an extremely shallow approach. The author says it’s based on Carnegie’s how to win friends an influence people; in reality it tells you to do everything Carnegie warns you about not to: making up lies, faking interest and flattery sprinkled with absolutely unrelatable stories from the authors life

Unnecessary sarcasm and playing with the words
While the book has some good points to offer, author's non-stop sarcasm, playing with the words, trying to be funny when it's absolutely unnecessary, makes it extremely annoying.
interestingly in the book, author herself refers to such people as linguistics bums!

Definitely a reference book.
Well, never thought small talk was that important 😅, I don’t like small talk, but it’s really nice to know it’s a treat I share with top executives in fortune 500 “i’m so full of it 🤣”.
Ok
More about the book and less about me 😂
After reading this book I decided to classify books into three categories
1. Must read again and keep as a reference
2. Keep as a reference
3. Don’t waste your time
This is definitely a Cat2 book.
Content wise it has some very nice and very useful methods with practical examples, and it definitely enriched my communication skills.
Yet, three key points to keep in mind.
First point, as much as it’s useful to know all of this, it’s almost impossible to apply all this, and it will definitely take years of practice to master even half those techniques. So don’t read this book expecting to close the last page and just communicate as a pro and have everyone gathering around you, if they started, then probably cause you were doing something wrong 😂
Second and more importantly, after some deep contemplation on how I perceive those techniques, I came to a conclusion. Some techniques might sound like nonsense, some as basic common sense, and some are new, so:
• For the common sense techniques, those are the techniques you are natural in, those are your strengths, capitalise on them 🤩
• For the new techniques, those are your low hanging fruit, you can improve quickly in those and enhance your self 👊
• For the nonsense, those are the tricky ones, those are what you really need to work on, even if you see them as nonsense, other people actually use them, or are influenced by them, and this is where you really need to put in the effort 🙃.
Third and Final and most importantly, some of those techniques are culture based, some are even job or industry based and there’s even a couple of chapters in the book that say this. In other words, think before you act, don’t take the sales techniques and try to apply them when dealing with IT guys, they will probably just think UR crazy, don’t take the smiley techniques and apply them in Eastern Europe, you might get punched in the face 😂.
So
All in all, I would give this a good 7 out of 10.
Thank you to the writer for sharing those techniques

A book for everyone
Everyone can learn something from that book, I really enjoyed hearing it.
Some chapters are a good reminder for all of us and some are good points to think about
