When Chuck dies and wakes up in a fantasy game world, he discovers that the secret to success isn’t heroics or clever tricks—it’s sheer grinding persistence.
After spending four months hitting a practice dummy until he breaks the combat system, Chuck embarks on a methodical quest to obtain the most powerful gear possible through relentless optimization. Armed with his evolving practice sword and an unwavering commitment to making his numbers go up, he tackles elemental dungeons, goblin hordes, and the occasional social interaction with the same cold efficiency.
In a world where most adventurers rush headlong into danger seeking glory, Chuck will be the ultimate grinder, meticulously calculating every copper coin, every experience point, and every decimal place of damage in his single-minded pursuit of perfect stats.
Sometimes, the most powerful weapon isn’t magic or heroism. Sometimes, it’s just refusing to quit.

Another issue: it's never explained why other characters don’t just replicate what the main character did to become overpowered. It feels like the world’s logic only applies when it's convenient for the plot. Honestly, if you want to enjoy this book, you’ll need to turn off your brain and just go along for the ride.
On the bright side, the narrator does a great job and makes the experience more tolerable.

no story at all just numbers and grinding

We're told the protagonist relentlessly strikes a training dummy with his sword without stopping for an entire day — yet this nonstop effort only results in about 100 hits, which then leads to reaching level two. An entire day of continuous swinging and only 100 strikes? That's completely unrealistic and immediately broke my immersion.
Then, around the 60-minute mark, it gets worse: he supposedly performs one-hit kills over six hours, totaling just 124 kills. That's roughly one kill every three minutes — hardly the fierce onslaught the narrative describes.
These inconsistencies kept shattering my immersion and made it impossible to stay invested. After one hour, I had to stop. It simply became boring. A shame, because with more attention to internal consistency, this could have worked.
Broken Immersion Due to Inconsistent Numbers
