As usual for Kevin Hearne, the story is great, the characters are well developed and relateable and the plot never gets boring. If the excerpt got your attention, go for this book! You wont be dissapointed!
Unfortunately, this record looses a lot due to the narration. Christopher Ragland reads well enough. But the voices of minor characters, espacially the female voices, sound artificial and unnecessarily exaggerared. Sometimes they are even different from chapter to chapter.
If you can get it, I strongly recommend to buy the version narrated by Luke Daniels instead. He consistently gives each character a great and believable voice and does especially well with dialects and the pronounciation of foreign words (Not that I can properly judge that, but they sound believable and without American Accent.) I couldn't find that version on Audible, but maybe you have better luck and they take it into their program.
Anyway, if you don't know the better version narrated by Luke Daniels, this one will be very enjoyable. I can so far recommend everything written by Kevin Hearne.

I like the whole iron druid series!
It's not setting new standards but it is well written.
Luckily not a coming of age story for teens but a story about the magical creatures existing in our modern world, some humour and and a few lines about sex added.

What makes this a great audiobook is the narrator! He created different voices for different protagonists, his pronunciation is clear and he always finds the right balance between calm narrating with breaks and exciting narrating with tempo and emphasis.
Awesome to listen to!

Geniale Geschichte, der Sprecher ist manchmal ein bisschen anstrengend, vor allen Dingen, wenn er Oberon spricht ( klingt wie Opa mit schlecht sitzender Zahnprothese) oder den Akzent der Hexen nachmacht. Trotzdem super genial, Band 2 grade geladen 👍

Tolles Buch

Die Geschichten über Atticus, den "eisernen" Druiden sind durchweg gut zum Teil sogar sehr gut. Ich finde sie spannend und abwechslungsreich. Der Protagonist, Atticus, ist aufgrund seiner Magie ein 2100 Jahre alter Druide im Körper eines 21 jährigen Mannes mitsamt den Attitüden eines 21jährigen und sehr sympathisch (ich sage nur: Baseball). Er ist ein kämpferischer junger Mann mit der Erfahrung aus 21 Jahrhunderten, hat eine große Liebe zur Natur, zur Erde (aus der er seine Kraft bezieht), zu den Lebewesen und besonders zu seinem Hund Oberon, mit dem er sich telepathisch unterhalten kann. Oberons Rolle in den Büchern ist die des naiven aber treuen und in seiner Einfachheit weisen Begleiters, der durch die Ursprünglichkeit seiner Weltsicht und Bedürfnisse Atticus immer wieder auf den Boden der im Leben eigentlich wichtigen Dinge bringt. Und natürlich ist er auch der große Spaßmacher. Die Dialoge sind mit Oberon und seine Kommentare sind das zusätzliche Salz in der Suppe. Aber auch Atticus ist mit seinen sarkastischen Kommentaren und seinem Wortwitz eine Gefahr fürs Zwerchfell.
Die Bücher sind absolut empfehlenswert. Der Sprecher "Christopher Ragland" schafft es fantastisch gut mit seiner Stimme Emotionen zu transportieren. Ich habe bislang nur wenige Sprecher gehört, die es so gut schafften liebvolle Töne zu erzeugen. Böse sein und schreien kann irgendwie jeder, aber einen Part voller Liebe zu sprechen....

First off I did not listen to more than a few chapters and am using this to vent because I paid for this book. Sadly I am not as clever as the protagonist and thus did not see coming what would eventually be a great wtf to my ears. Everyone around the protagonist is an idiot or a scheming idiot, he escapes everything quite easily because he is basically all-knowing and all-powerful, a rogue among blundering deities. I think some people might get something out of this, but if you are looking for complexity you are out of luck here. I hated how the narrator did the female voices, which only underlined that everyone beside the protagonist was at least somewhat challenged in the reasonable thought department. Speaking of female, that’s why I stopped listening. How the women were written was icky, they were objectified on par with a song of ice and fire, just …yuck. The only thing I really liked about the world-building was the mentioning of deities from non-European cultures. Everything else just never made sense and I felt strung along, waiting for the other shoe to drop or frankly, anything interesting to happen. I kept hoping the big bad baddy would just come already to put us all out of our misery, but wait, there were a woman’s physical features to be described first! Nevertheless, apart from the female voices, the speaker did a good job with the text and maybe everything I disliked was just intentional and I am simply the very wrong audience.

Disappointed by this title. The potential was there, but the story/plot was just too thin. The reader was OK, and doing what he could with the material, I guess...
